In time for Fastnacht day, we did a lesson on unity, variety and emphasis with this printmaking lesson. We used pool noodles as stampers to create donuts that were the same size and shape. This is the unity. We took a dozen donuts and divided them by three flavors to get our variety (and a little math). During the second class, we added decorations with play-color paint sticks to add emphasis. These second graders are very proud of their creations.
