Who Will See Their Shadow

This groundhog's day inspired lesson was a great way to teach students about the role of shadows in creating realistic art. Kindergarten and first grade did a great job.

We started with the book "Who will see their shadow this year?" and a discussion on how shadows are formed. I gave them a homework assignment to look for their shadow and to notice its size, shape and color in different places. Many of the students stopped me at bus duty to point out their shadows.
