Arlo Needs Glasses

First graders finished up their "Arlo Needs Glasses" inspired works this week. We started off talking about people we know who have challenges. They listed many types of challenges, such as friends with food allergies, grandparents in wheelchairs. It was a very pleasant conversation. I then played the read-aloud version of the story from youtube. The students painted the texture of their dog and let it dry. Week two we added glasses, a fancy collar and a patterned border. No patterns or tracers and they all turned out great! So thankful to have amazing colleagues like the one who shared this lesson with our department!
