Pop Culture Throwback

Pop art word sculptures using cardboard, tape and celluclay. Rethinking one of my favorite high school lessons to bring it down to my upper elementary students. It's a fun walk down memory lane to revisit what was "in" when I first taught this lesson.

My art 1 students cut their words out of two sheets of cardboard. We stacked smaller pieces 1" square in between the layers then wrapped with newspaper and tape. Celluclay was used to add texture and cover the surface. Then they had to embellish the work.
