Digital organization: How I'm coping with distance learning

Real talk.

I can't focus when things aren't organized. Each year I spend a good deal of time setting up my classroom space, as tiny as it is, to make it functional for me and my kids. I'm truly happiest when life is color coded, in rainbow or alphabetical order. So being thrown into the world of online teaching with no notice was unsettling.

Not having a plan, and having a moving target for the first two weeks was rough. Being a co-teacher in 12 different classes and not being able to organize how that looked on my screen? Painful. Right now, my district's directive is seesaw for K-2, and google classroom for 3-5. So the best thing I could do, was organize the ever lovin' heck out of the space I did have.

That meant color coded seesaw badges, google classroom headers and duplicating my attendance binder at home. But, I'm able to breathe again. Metacognition is where it's at peeps.

Google Classroom Headers......

Seesaw badges. Color Coded. In grade level order, alphabetical by teacher's name...

A little graphic that I'm using on the pages of the resources I'm uploading:

Last week our specials got out own seesaw classrooms and the ability to organize that space with my own folders and systems was such a relief.

Are any of these things necessary? Nope. Do they ease my mind and help me manage a stressful situation. Absolutely.

Do you.
