Illustrated quotations

On a trip to Ireland we picked up these two pieces of art by Pat Byrne at the Jam Art Factory.

I'd been kicking around the idea of using my childhood dictionary for years and finally turned the inspiration into this lesson for 5th grade.

Students had two weeks notice to select their own quote or choose from a list provided. In progress photos coming soon. They've been working on their mixed media all week and will begin adding their quotes next time. I can't wait to share; they look amazing so far.
