Stained Glass Student Work In Progress

First grade students began assembling their stained glass pictures today.

They chose lamp, vase or window for their primary shape. Now they are using their painted paper samples to fill in the space with images. I love the variety I'm seeing in these two vase examples.

So far this project has touched on symmetry, color theory, texture, line, shape, balance, composition, art history, collage, mixed media.

Next week they will begin filling in the rest of the space. Can't wait to see how they turn out. To learn more about how this project developed check out the posts here and here. If you're already excited and just want to teach it, check out the lesson plan here.
